Step 1 of 4 · Ask for the context

A specific request gives the client a place to begin.

Attorney

Please send the note and original messages about the agreed pickup time for September 12, plus your separate note about what happened at the exchange.

One topic keeps the request and its replies together. The parent chooses which saved records to include.

This illustration condenses the app workflow. In the app, the attorney downloads the original file to open it. Clients first invite an attorney and enable conversations. Refresh to see new replies; email and push alerts are not enabled. Conversations stay separate from court reports.

Make your time with clients count

Keep the context close.
Keep the judgment yours.

The goal is more meaningful preparation within the time you already spend with clients. Folio gives the information a place, so you can decide what it means and what to ask next.

A request with a specific purpose
Ask about one topic or date range. The client can answer in that conversation with copies of the saved records they choose.
Originals alongside the note
Read the note and download the selected original file while it remains available in the shared case. Distinguish what someone observed from what a source shows.
A review with a defined scope
Record what you reviewed and for what purpose. Earlier messages keep the copies that were sent, even when a case record changes.

Start with one client and one question

A small place to begin.

Use Folio for a specific custody records exchange alongside the tools your firm already uses. It does not connect directly to your practice management system.

  1. 01

    The client invites you.

They select a case and your exact email address, then send you the private invitation link.

  2. 02

    You accept. They choose.

You verify your email and accept through an attorney account. The client separately enables conversations.

  3. 03

    Work through one request.

Ask for specific information, review the selected records and reply with the context you still need.

Useful before you use Folio

A clearer request starts
with a shared checklist.

Give clients a short guide to gathering the requested dates, notes, originals and unanswered questions. They can use it with the process your firm already follows.

Who controls the records and sharing?

The parent chooses the case to share. That invitation gives the attorney read access to the selected case, not just the records attached to a message. The parent separately enables conversations and can revoke access. Downloaded copies cannot be recalled. Sharing does not establish representation.

Does it use AI to interpret the records?

AI is not required for this workflow. Parents write their notes and select the sources. Attorneys decide what the information means. A review marker records the attorney’s stated review scope; it does not verify allegations or certify facts.

How do we know a reply has arrived?

Open the conversation and select Refresh. Email and push notifications are not enabled. Agree with your client on when to check Folio, and use your usual contact method for urgent matters.

Do conversation messages appear in court reports?

Requests, replies and review notes stay separate from the case record reports. The parent selects the case records to include and reviews the report before sharing.

What does the parent’s plan cost?

Web access costs $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year after a 30 day trial with no card required. A parent can subscribe during the trial if they choose. App Store prices are shown by Apple. Attorney access requires a client invitation and an attorney account.

Help shape the next step

What makes client records
hard to work with?

I’m Baily, the founder of Custody Folio. I’d like to hear what still takes work after a client sends you their information. A few sentences by email is plenty. Please leave out client names and private case details.
